John North relinquished his position as Director in December 2008 after 25 years at the helm.
He was succeeded as Director in January 2009 by Tom Moore MA Bmus ARCO, who was at that time Assistant Director of Music at Wakefield Cathedral and accompanist at the Subscription Concerts since 2003. Tom has since become the first full-time Director of Music for Wakefield Cathedral.
The first engagement under Tom was to sing the choral services in Wakefield Cathedral on Sunday 15th February 2009, deputising for the Cathedral Choir who were enjoying their half-term break. The music was well received by those present and undoubtedly maintained the Consort's high standards, leading to them being invited back on a number of occasions.
