As a boy, John S. North was Head Chorister of Wakefield Cathedral Choir under Dr. Percy Saunders, before gaining degrees from Leeds and York Universities.  He taught music in several Yorkshire schools before becoming a Headteacher in 1982.  He is now in his third headship.  He has also held posts as organist and choirmaster of St. George’s Church, Wakefield and Howden Minster, deputising on many occasions at Wakefield Cathedral.

The Consort Strings, led by Les Krzystowski, regularly play at Subscription Concerts to enable larger chamber works to be performed.  Other instrumentalists are used as and when required.  The Consort is also able to call upon professional organists at concerts.  Tom Moore, Assistant Director of Music at Wakefield Cathedral, is the choir's main accompaniest at this time.  

From time to time, opportunities arise for new singers to join the choir.  Sight reading ability is requred as is a good sense of humour!  Please visit the Contact Us page for further details.
